Shiloh

Some dogs just want a home. Shiloh wants a person.

This 35-pound pittie mix is equal parts silly, loyal, and full-body-lean Velcro baby. If you’ve ever dreamed of a dog who follows you from room to room like a baby duckling… congratulations, she’s already picked you.

Shiloh came to ACCT Philly as a stray wearing a heavy chain collar, and she likely spent time tied up before being found and rescued as a stray. Despite her rough start (and being at risk of euthanasia due to shelter space) she has the softest heart and the biggest capacity to love. She’s just learning that people come back. That she’s safe. That she’s wanted.

💛 Personality

Shiloh is silly, affectionate, and deeply loyal, with a goofy streak that comes out during playtime and zoomies. When she’s all tuckered out, she transforms into a professional couch cuddler who just wants to be right next to her person. She LOVES toys (Lambchop is the current favorite), bones, treats, car rides and honestly, life itself. She takes treats incredibly gently and already knows “sit” and “down.” She’s extremely food-motivated and eager to please, making her a fast learner and a perfect candidate for positive reinforcement training. And every single time she comes back inside from being outdoors? Full zoomies. Without fail. And once she knows that? She basically wants to crawl into your skin.

🐕 Social Life

Shiloh is great with other dogs and would happily play 24/7 if given the chance. She shows no resource guarding at all and is happy to share her space and toys. She can be a little shy at first with new people (especially men) but with patience (and a few treats), she warms up quickly and becomes incredibly affectionate. She would likely do best in a home with older kids who understand boundaries and how to respectfully interact with dogs. On a leash, she isn’t reactive but can get excited and briefly fixate on other dogs & people because she wants to say hello. She’s learning quickly and already walks beautifully.

🏡 Home Life

Shiloh is about 95% house trained (she’s only ever had the occasional pee accident and is making incredible progress) and 95% crate trained (she sleeps through the night beautifully and is still building confidence being alone during the day). She’s apartment friendly, though a yard would certainly be a bonus for her zoomies!

Shiloh is also working through a bit of separation anxiety and that’s not because she’s difficult, but because she’s still learning that she won’t be abandoned again. She’s looking for someone patient, kind, and consistent — someone who understands that dogs have big feelings and deserve to feel safe.

✨ Her Dream Home

Shiloh’s dream adopter is someone who truly wants a companion, a sidekick, and a best friend woven into their everyday life. She’s looking for a patient, steady presence who’s excited to keep building her confidence and understands that rescue dogs don’t just adjust — they bloom with love.

Someone who will celebrate the small wins, cheer her on as she continues learning, and take pride in watching her grow into the confident girl she’s meant to be.

She would likely thrive in a home with another friendly dog to help show her the ropes and build her confidence, though it’s not required (she bonds deeply with her people and will happily take your undivided attention).

Shiloh doesn’t need perfection. She needs someone who looks at her and says, “You’re safe now.” And means it.
