Success Story: Blue

Some dogs wait for someone to walk through the door. Blue made sure his person stopped in her tracks.

Before he was Blue, he was “Silly Salmon,” the sweet pup sitting in the window at Doggie Style Pets, quietly hoping someone would see him. One morning, Sage was grabbing breakfast at 3 Js Cafe next door, just another normal day in Old City. She had grown up with animals her whole life. Her mom has three dogs. She was constantly bringing them to her apartment, pet sitting, doing Rover, loving everyone else’s dogs while putting off getting one of her own.

Then she saw him.

Silly Salmon came right up to the window, soft, sweet, and curious. There was something about the way he looked at her. Her boyfriend jokingly said, “Sage, you’re going to make him think he’s getting a home. Let’s go.” They walked away.

But she couldn’t stop thinking about him.

That night, he stayed on her mind. The way he came up to the glass. The connection she felt instantly. By the next morning, she knew. She went back to Doggie Style and made it official.

Silly Salmon was coming home.

Now renamed Blue, he has settled beautifully into his new life. He is everything she hoped for and more. Sweet beyond words. Incredibly cuddly. Friendly with every dog and human he meets. His lanky little body, thanks to his greyhound mix genes, only adds to his charm.

All legs, all love.

What started as a casual breakfast stop turned into forever. Blue did not just find a home that day. He found someone who could not imagine walking past him again.

And Sage? She finally stopped putting it off.
